Apartment Fire

At approximately 11:41am Prophetstown and Lyndon Fire Department were dispatched to 311 Washington Street, Prophetstown. (Main Street) It was a 2nd story room and contents with heavy smoke and heat damage. The smoke took the lives of the families pets including the dog and four cats. The owner was home at the time and her children were at school, luckily the owner escaped the fire and made it out safely. The family lost everything in the incident, donations have been set up by friends and people can make donations to the Earles Family at the Prophetstown Credit Union. Pictures are available online.

Brush Fire

At approximately 4:30pm on Nov 18th Prophetstown and Lyndon Fire were dispatched to a Field Fire on Lyndon Road. After arriving on scene the fire had already burned about 4 acres through woods and corn field along the Rock River. With the wind carrying the fire extremely fast mutual aid from several different departments including: Hooppole, Rockfalls, Tampico, and Erie were toned out to assist with the fire. All together it took 6 Brush Trucks, 5 Tankers, and a 6-wheeler to get it put down. After a quick investigation it was determined that the City had started it by burning Yard waste behind the treatment plant behind the Prophetstown State Park.

Barn Roof Fire

On November 17th Prophetstown and Lyndon fire were dispatched out at 2:23pm on a report of a barn on fire on Lyndon Road. After arriving on scene it appeared to be more of a brush fire that had gotten out of control and caught the barn on fire. Hooppole Fire was called in for assistance along with the Tampico Brush Truck. Their was no major loss of property. No injuries.

I-88 Car Single Vehicle Accident

On November 10, 2011 at 8:28am Prophetstown Fire was dispatched out to I-88 for a car that had went of the road into a tree line. The vehicle was headed westbound at Mile Marker 30. Nobody was injured.

Brush Fire

On October 10th at 1:00pm Prophetstown Fire was dispatched to help Hooppole Fire with a Soybean Field Fire just south of Hooppole on Route 78. The fire was extinguished quickly before it created significant damage.

Car Accident

On October 7th at 9:13am Lyndon and Prophetstown Fire and Ambulance was dispatched to Route 78 and Route 2 on Hamilton Corners for a 10-50 Car Accident Car Vs. Cement Truck. The cement truck had gone off the road to avoid direct collision with the car, the cement truck went through the ditch and took out a power pole and their was wires hanging on top of the cement truck. Comed was notified and responded immediately to the scene. Several Tow trucks helped remove the vehicles from under the lines once Comed gave the go-ahead. Passengers of the car were transported to a hospital for evaluation with no signs of serious injuries.

At 2:48pm on October 6th Prophetstown Fire was dispatched to a Field Fire on Prophet Road & Matznick. It turned out to be a picked soybean field that had caught on fire. It was quickly extinguished before it spread or cause to much damage.

Machine Shed Fire

At 12:46am Prophetstown and Lyndon Fire were dispatched out to 220 Elm Street for a structure fire that was reported as "Well Evolved" as we arrived on scene we immediately called for Mutual Aid from Erie and Tampico Fire requesting more man power. The fire was quickly extinguished, however it had been burning for quite some time before anyone had called it in. The fire destroyed everything inside the structure, but luckily nobody was inside and everyone went home safe. Thank you to everyone involved for your assistance.

10-50 Semi Accident

At approximately 3:25pm Prophetstown Fire was dispatched to just south of Lomax Road on Route 78 for report of a Semi 10-50. Upon arrival it was discovered that the semi driver had run into the back of a Pickup Truck pulling two grain bin carts. No serious injuries.
