Fire Prevention

The Prophetstown Fire Protection District strives to constantly stay involved with our communities. We provide a range of services including station tours and more. Give us a call to schedule a tour or if you have any questions concerning fire prevention. Every year around the second week of October is National Fire Prevention Week. During this week firefighters visit local schools teaching children the importance of fire safety.

Keep in mind when practicing fire prevention in your home or business:

  • Test your smoke detectors at least once a month
  • Change batteries in detectors with daylight savings time
  • Have your furnace or wood stoves checked and cleaned
  • Inspect your fire extinguisher, make sure it is operable
  • Post the "911" number by phone
  • Practice home and business exit drills
